Art has always been an anchor for me and I have realized that art is a form of my personality. Many art pieces I have made are my self expression and represent everyday issues I face. The art I make has a lot to do with my self identity specifically relating to my culture. Although my art can symbolize a deeper meaning for me, I want the audience to broaden their perspectives. Art pushes me to work through the difficult challenges that I face and it also teaches me to value patience in my process. The process and the idea behind what I do is for myself, but I like to think that the end product will serve to inform and comfort others. As an artist, sharing my work is like sharing a deep part of myself that most people would ever see. It's a very intimate thing, but people are quick to discount it because it doesn't reach their high standards. All I want from people is to appreciate the work I put into my art and the bravery it takes to share this kind of work. The goal of my pieces is for people to see things from a new perspective and to find their own messages in my work. I make my pieces with a certain symbolic message in mind because those messages have meaning to me. I don't expect others to understand what a piece might mean for me, but I want people to be able to synthesize their own understanding of my creations.
